The
Diamond 4 Ranch is in Dickinson Park,
one of the eastern entrances to the Wind Rivers
at 9200 ft elevation
and west of Lander, Wyoming. Well known for world class fly fishing,
backpacking and rock climbing, "The Winds" are spectacularly
rugged and remote. The Diamond 4 Ranch can help you plan your wilderness
adventure. Let our horses lighten your load by carrying all your gear,
while you enjoy the scenery along the trail from the back of a kind
and sure-footed saddle horse. Or you may opt to hike intead of ride.
Our wranglers will lead your party and the packstring to a camp in the
Popo Agie Wilderness, drop you off at an alpine lake or stream, then
return later to pack you out. We provide the wranglers and horses, you
supply your own camping gear and food.
A
"Spot Pack Trip"
is perfect for families or groups of friends for trout
fishing, hiking, camping and rock climbing.
You
may instead choose a "Gear Drop" and hike with only your day
pack, meeting the wrangler with your gear at your wilderness destination.
This is a great option for the hiker that is not keen on carrying a
heavy backpack.
Climbers - we pack gear into Lonesome Lake and Cirque of the Towers,
and into Grave Lake near Mt Hooker.
We'll load each pack horse with 140 lbs max. Pack light and save $.
You're only charged for the days the horses are used: 2 days for a roundtrip
in and out.

RESERVATIONS
BY EARLY SPRING HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Season - late June
through early September
Daily Rate.....$185/Horse per day on the trail
(Saddle horses, pack horses and wrangler with horse are each $185/day)
Approximate
round trip price is $750-$950/rider or $350-$450/hiker based on 70lbs
gear/person.
Limit is 140 lbs/pack horse. More gear takes more horses which means
more cost to you.
When estimating your cost, remember to add each wrangler.
They will string the empty horses home and return later to pack you
out at the end of your trip.
One
wrangler is sent for every 4 saddle or pack horses you use.
All trips- add tax and gratuities. We add a fuel surcharge if using
another trailhead.
