THE RANCH

We value community, connection with nature, and caring for our animals. We enjoy sharing these values and this rustic mountain lifestyle with others. Our aim is to create a space that is warm, welcoming, and allows our guests to find a sense of peace and connection in this unplugged setting.

Join us for meals in the lodge when you hear the dinner bell ring - breakfast at 7:00am, dinner at 6:00pm. Watch the horse herd run out every night to graze in the mountain meadows, and see them come in as the sun rises the next morning. Enjoy conversations on the lodge porch with a hot drink in hand, let the wranglers teach you how to rope, or simply enjoy some time on your cabin porch with a good book. Unplug and re-connect in this authentic mountain ranch setting.

FACILITIES OVERVIEW

GENERAL: To accommodate our guests we have 5 log cabins, 3 glamping tents, and 3 sheepwagons. (See photos and descriptions of each style of lodging below.) Coming to our remote mountain ranch means escaping the crowds, immersing yourself in nature, and unplugging devices. We are proud to be Wyoming’s highest elevation guest ranch at 9,200ft, and we realize both the perks and limitations of our environment. We find beauty and liberation in the simplicity of this lifestyle.

OFF-GRID: Our ranch is off-the-grid. Besides the little bit of solar power in the main lodge, we do not have electricity. We use propane to power the water heaters in each showerhouse and the cooking appliances in the lodge. There are battery-powered lanterns in the cabins, glamping tents, and sheepwagons.

WATER: Our water comes from natural springs and is safe and delicious to drink. The cabins each have sinks with cold running water, and there is a showerhouse with plenty hot water. Guests staying in the sheepwagons or glamping tents use the sinks at the showerhouse or lodge, as there are no sinks in those accommodations.

TOILETS: We use outhouses and clean them every day. Because of our remote location and limited supply of natural-spring water, we do not have flushable toilets.

WIFI/CELL SERVICE: There is very limited access to cell service & wifi at the ranch. Only in recent years, we’ve acquired a cell phone amplifier and satellite internet to use only for business and urgent matters. Otherwise, you can find consistent cell service about 15 minutes down the road at a high lookout spot. When going on day rides from the ranch, you will find that most trails have spots with a cell connection - whether you choose to turn on your phone or be fully unplugged is up to you!

BEDDING & TOWELS: If you are coming for a ranch-based package where you will be staying multiple nights at the ranch - a Mountain Ranch Vacation or a ranch-based Wellness Retreat - your beds will be fully made up and sets of towels are provided. Ranch-based guests do not need a sleeping bag, but you’re welcome to bring one. For the Guided Pack Trip and Spot Pack Trip guests who will only stay one night at the ranch on the front end and maybe back end of your wilderness pack trip, please plan to sleep in your sleeping bags at the ranch. Your beds will have fitted sheets with pillows in cases, and you will lay out your sleeping bag on top. We are happy to provide you with towels if you plan to shower while at the ranch. Because our water supply is limited, we do all laundry in Lander once a week, which is about an hour and a half drive. By having our one-night guests use their sleeping bags, this helps us lighten the laundry load. Thank you!

THE ACCOMMODATIONS

CABINS: We have 5 guest cabins. The cabins are log structures made of Lodgepole Pine Trees from the surrounding forest, built by our family and wranglers throughout our 50 years in business. Each cabin is a one-room structure, sleeping about 3 - 6 people depending on the makeup of the group. Most of the cabins have a layout like this: on the main floor there is a queen bed and two twin or double beds, and in the loft there is a queen bed. The cabins all have sinks with cold running water that is safe to drink. There is a nearby showerhouse and nearby outhouses.

GLAMPING TENTS: These are beautiful, spacious structures. The tent is made of a strong canvas with a large rain fly that is durable for any weather; set on a wooden platform with a deck and awning, plus a sturdy internal metal frame to support the tent and a Lodgepole Pine frame for the rain fly and awning. Each structure has a comfy queen or king-sized bed with furniture and plenty of space. We have three glamping tents: 14 x 15, 16 x 20, 16 x 25 (in feet.)

While there is no running water in the glamping tents, there is a nearby showerhouse with plenty hot water as well as a sink on the back porch of the lodge, which also has warm water for washing your face and brushing teeth.

SHEEPWAGONS: Charming and an authentic part of western culture, these are the original “tiny home!” The sheepwagons are perfectly cozy for individuals - or even a couple who really likes each other! Each sheepwagon is beautifully handcrafted by a local friend of ours - with a comfy queen bed, space to lounge and store your gear, and a big view of the mountains right out your window. We have 3 sheepwagons.

While there is no running water in the sheepwagons, there is a nearby showerhouse with plenty hot water as well as a sink on the back porch of the lodge, which also has warm water for washing your face and brushing teeth.
