Wilderness Cowgirl Camp: July 6 - 12, 2025
This trip is for girls ages 10 - 14. We limit the group size to 12 participants. The focus of this adventure is to learn wilderness skills and experience personal growth in the mountains among a supportive, inclusive group. Our number one priority is safety while creating a fun learning environment. Wilderness classes will include: natural horsemanship, fly fishing, map/compass reading, proper camping and backcountry travel techniques, plant identification, animal tracking, geology and more! Our aim is to empower the girls with these skills to increase their competence and confidence in the outdoors. Through daily activities, each girl will learn about herself and explore her personal communication and leadership style in a supportive environment.
This trip will be led by Jessie Allen - the Diamond 4 Ranch owner/operator, NOLS backpacking instructor, certified yoga teacher and wellness coach, big game hunting guide, and former Miss Wyoming 2014. Jessie has a team of skilled, savvy, strong, and upbeat women to help lead the trip so that the student to teacher ratio is about 2:1. There are inherent hazards in the wilderness; with hands-on coaching and mentorship, we strongly prioritize safety.
We will spend the first half of the trip exploring from the mountain ranch each day before heading further into the wilderness to camp. This trip is not a wilderness therapy program, but rather a fun, exciting adventure to empower young women in the mountains. Please discuss with us any specific needs your daughter might have before signing up. We want to make sure this is the best fit for her as the experience may provide (healthy & growth-oriented) challenges.
TRAVEL LOGISTICS: Please arrive at our valley ranch 4 miles from Lander, Wyoming (we will send directions in Trip Planning Info) with your girl on July 6 at 8:00am. We will check their gear and have an orientation with parents before carpooling all the girls to the mountain ranch. We will bring the girls back to the valley ranch in Lander on July 12 around 3:00pm for a celebratory ice cream party/awards ceremony - parents welcome to join. We are glad to arrange airport pick-up/accommodations on either end of the trip for any girls who fly into Riverton, Wyoming not accompanied by parents or chaperones.
